Goku and Vegeta have been asked by the Galactic Patrol to find and arrest the criminal Moro. To replenish his strength, Moro travels to New Namek and defeats them there, using the Dragon Balls that the locals there keep under their control. In the end, he utilizes the Dragon Balls to release all of the prisoners kept by the Patrol. While Goku and Vegeta get set for their rematch, Moro and the other convicts go on a rampage. Goku perfects his ability to use Ultra Instinct anytime he likes while Vegeta is out on his trip to Planet Yardrat. When Moro sends his army to Earth, Goku and his companions put up a battle to gain time for Goku and Vegeta to arrive and vanquish Moro. Desperate to end his life, Moro suggests he and Earth may just become one. As soon as Goku channels the power of Vegeta’s enhanced talents into his own, he is able to vanquish Moro and rescue the world.
Goku and Vegeta resumed their training with Whis and Beerus after some time away. Meanwhile, Cerelian mercenary Granolah learns through his Heeter masters that Frieza is still alive. Granolah takes a sworn commitment to destroy Frieza and exact vengeance for his home planet of Cereal. Granolah gives up his life so that his home planet’s Dragon Balls might be used to become him the most powerful fighter in the galaxy. The Heeters use their influence to draw Goku and Vegeta into a fight with Granolah. Even though both Goku and Vegeta are improving their abilities as a consequence of their fight with Granolah—and Vegeta is even able to transform into a new form of her Ultra Ego—Granolah still manages to defeat them. Namekian Monaito, Granolah’s foster father, stops him at the perfect moment to reveal that Bardock, Goku’s father, saved them forty years ago, during Frieza’s invasion of Cereal. Because of this, Monaito will not be able to kill them. Granolah’s mother, Muezli, was killed by the Heeters, the same people responsible for the destruction of Cereal, during the attack. Bardock saved Monaito and Granolah by defeating the youngest Heeter Gas.
In the present, death is near for Granolah, Monaito, Goku, and Vegeta as Heeters Oil, Maki, and Gas draw near. After making a wish to the Cerealian Dragon, Gas gained the ability to become the most formidable warrior in the universe. While Goku and Granolah are distracted by Vegeta collecting a Senzu bean, Gas easily defeats them. Vegeta gave the bean to Granolah, and shortly after, Granolah challenges Gas to a battle, which he quickly and easily wins. As soon as Elec showed there, he took Gas’s necklace, which was limiting his powers, off of him. Eventually, with Elec’s help, Gas is able to regain control of his emotions. While Granolah and Vegeta are defenseless, Goku uses Instant Transmission to divert Gas’ attention away from Cereal. Goku, Granolah, Vegeta, and Monaito should all rest in his house after the fight. Monaito gives Goku Bardock’s scouter, which has an audio tape of him defeating Gas by sheer force of will.
Goku and Vegeta fight a resurrected Gas as Monaito repairs to Granolah’s wounds. They lose the war despite heroic efforts on both sides, but Gas’s lifespan has been drastically shortened because of it. Eventually, Granolah returns, and it seems that he has defeated him. While Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah are tending to Monaito’s wounds, Gas resurface, this time stronger but in worse shape, and inflict fatal damage on Monaito. Granolah looks after Monaito as Goku and Vegeta fight Gas. Goku and Vegeta fail in their attempt. After being lured there by Elec, Frieza finally makes an appearance on Planet Cereal, where Gas plans to kill him. Ten years of training in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber have prepared Frieza to rapidly dispose of Gas and Elec. He then transforms into Black Frieza and effortlessly defeats Goku and Vegeta. When he has completed assembling his squad of Oil and Maki, he will go. Whis materializes, heals Monaito, and so makes it possible for Goku and Vegeta to be saved.
